Aretha Franklin VS Patti Labelle and yes it has finally come to this because we are stuck and totally cannot agree on who reins the True Queen of Soul. So we are going to make our decisions based on some of the artists’ greatest hits.

First we’re going to start out with some history on both Aretha and Patti to see if there is anything to be compared from their backgrounds.

Aretha Franklin has been referred to for many years as the Queen of Soul already and has also been ranked number 1 on Rolling Stones all-time greatest singers list. She has won over 18 Grammys scoring 20 number 1 singles on the Billboards R&B Singles Chart. To date Aretha has scored 45 hits on Billboard Hot 100 and has more million selling singles than any female artist. That’s only among some of Aretha’s accomplishments there are lots more. Patti Labelle has been referred to as The Godmother Of Soul, Queen of Rock and Soul and High Priestess of Good Vibrations because of how high pitched her voice range can get. Patti has sold over 50 million records worldwide and was inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame for Lady Marmalade. Her hits have won many times for the category of Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. She has also acted throughout her career on TV shows and in Movies.

Rock Steady is one of my favorite Aretha Franklin hits, I feel that the spirit of the song is very upbeat and it has that old school feel to it, the feel that you should be in some lounge with bell bottoms on jamming.

New Attitude is definitely what the feel of this song gives you as Patti Labelle rocks out! She shows that she can rock it with the single New Attitude without having to hit those high notes throughout the song. This gives you a type of Footloose movie feel, also a song you could lose some pounds to.

Aretha Franklin demands her Respect in the hit song Think.  I loved the scene in the Blues Brothers movie at the diner; it was one of her best performances even though the man still left to do his thang. Oh well Aretha could quickly find a replacement because she just not having that bull!

Patti Labelle is done with making people think about what they’re doing and just gets right to finding The Right Kinda Lover at the push of a button in her video. If only all things were that simple and by the way what exactly is The Right Kind of Lover?

Aretha Franklin hit single Natural Woman had an extreme effect on how the men started treating their ladies back in the day because ever woman wanted someone in her life to make her feel like a natural woman and every woman wanted whoever the man was that Aretha was singing about.

Patti Labelle is letting you all know that Somebody Loves You Baby. Listening to this song makes you feel as though you really are loved and the feeling of being secure in a relationship or out of a relationship.
