Craigslist Job Scam

Sounds Like A Craigslist Jobs Scam To Me

Have you heard of the FBI Scam? We'll get to that soon but Craigslist Job Scam is on the rise again. Recently a friend went on the website “Craigslist” searching for a job; she came across what seems to be a major scam that I want to share with you all. She searched the local Chicago craigslist website but I am sure this ad is running on all the websites. Upon finding what sounded like a great job opportunity she emailed a resume, she received a really fast reply asking if she could interview Saturday October 10 at 1pm, thinking it was amazing how quickly this was all happening she never thought once when they told her that the interview would be done through an online conference.

Interview day arrived, she logged in at the time the Craigslist job scam artists requested, surprised to see that there were many other unemployed people like her who had all logged in for a chance at the fake job opportunity as well. The interview started with a man by the name of Steven Munson or Paul Munson appearing via webcam to speak with everyone introducing who the company is and what they do. I was told that the man appeared really nervous drinking lots of water throughout his appearance. Below is what was said that employees who were hired would be expected to do.

Craigslist Jobs Scam Details

The employees would be paid anywhere from $2000 to $12,000 as a recruiter. The job would simply be going through job orders then producing matches to set up for job interviews. Employees would then receive 50% each time an employer hires someone they matched to a job. Employers would pay 20% to 30% of candidates’ first year salary, meaning if total invoice is $8,800 then you as a recruiter would receive $4,400 which is half. All the job seekers in the online conference room were told they would be presented a 1099 as an independent contractor if hired. A little further into the discussion which lasted about a hour maybe longer the people in the online conference room were told they would have to pay a $300 fee or at least half in order to get started working for the company “Recruiting Professionals” the chat section was also opened up immediately. My friend, I am sorry that I cannot mention her name then stated that many desperate job seekers were just paying the money right on the spot though credit cards, checks and PayPal to secure their spots with the company. There were said to be some job seekers who were asking many questions, she in turn started asking questions such as why people should have to pay to get a job, she even asked the company’s direct address along with other information. The only response she received was a telephone number to call, but she kept insisting to know the company’s history then she was cut out of the room.

It all sounds really suspicious to me; I was told this ad is running now on Craigslist either in customer service, human resources or similar categories. Far Below is a copy of the email that she received to her inbox but if anyone has any experience or knowledge of this company it would be helpful.

Now with so many people out there desperately seeking employment, with families to provide for you'd think these scammers who probably have families to support as well would show some sympathy. When searching for employement online it'd probably just be better to search known employment websites instead of websites like craigslist to avoid coming across a Craigslist jobs scam such as this.

Hi Brandon,

I also saw this ad on the Dallas Craigslist. Too many scams out there. I didn't respond to it but they kept sending me e-mails. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Dear Brandon

Thank you so much for posting this! I received an email this morning from the same scammers (via Los Angeles Craigslist). They wanted to know if I could interview this morning @ 11am. Fortunately, I have a REAL interview at that time. I thought it was a little fishy so I did some googling and came across this site. However, I haven't figured out which ad post belonged to them. It must have been in response to a resume I sent because I was addressed by first name in the email. Here is what I received:

Hey this is so true it seems to be a scam as I too had gotten an email from the recruiting experts. Mind you I was cautious of this company from the get go of things. Yes there is a web cam with a guy telling the people in the room about this being the interview and all that. He was a young fellow maybe in his early 30's or mid 30's. So he begins to ask questions and requests for the people in the room to participate immediately. Well pretty interesting I thought to myself. It was not until I heard him asking at the end of the whole process for a purchase of $300 or $250 as a contingent fee to reserve a space. I just laugh to myself when I saw people in the room starting to purchase this. I don't quite know if the people in the room were real people by the way. So then while this was taking place, I proceeded to ask about the necessary documentations on his company. And it was at that point that I saw other people in the room posting question such as "are you guys for real etc". At this point I kept getting booted from the room and so I logged back in and ask the question again, at which point I got booted again. I guess I was an influence on the others in the room that were gullible for his fraud scheme. Well at the end of it I thought that this guy is the worst scum on earth. If this is really true for which I am 80% sure its a scam, to prey upon individuals who are looking for work in trying economic times, for some folks that may have been there last dime they had and this guy robs them blind. I hope somebody who see this will freed from getting robbed by this fraud. And he get reported. To the bureau fraud squad.

PS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I had the same email pop up in my box and I didn't even inquire about it on craigslist. I live in buffalo and there are tons of scams going on and I need a job so this really stinks. thank you for the info now I am not going to even bother it was set for tonight at 9.

Yeah, I got this email today and I thought it was a scam right from the start, so I immediately googled and came across this site. I'm glad I found this entry right away and didn't waste too much time with it. By the way, this happened to me in Rhode Island.

Its great others are starting to figure this out now, before paying out those couple hundred dollars.

Not Duped 2 years ago

I got it too. I am leary as well. How can you not be? They keep addressing me by my first name. Bell. Ha! Not even my first name, first three letters of my e-mail address and a poor guess on their part. But also I have been contacted numerous times at least 6 probably a couple more. But anyways, my point is that I have scheduled 3 to 4 interviews all of which I have not made. As a matter of fact I have one for today at 9:00 pm ET. Gonna make that one for some entertainment. What's interesting though is the fact that I have had more than 6 opportunities to become part of this "Professional" business. Well if it is sooooo "Professional" and legitimate why have I as a professional been afforded so many opportunities to respond. If they were a serious company wouldn't they exclude me from their mailing list indefinitely? Answer "yes". Wouldn't they send me an apologetic e-mail stating regrets for the foul up on my name? Answer "yes". HOAX.

WOW! 2 years ago

So true. I'm writing from Jacksonville, FL! They sent me TONS of emails!!! And when I started asking about the job requirements and other items, they wouldn't answer. Thank you so much for posting this!

Debra Salazar 2 years ago

I too received the very same email, I attended the online interview and went through the whole process. I am really glad I found THIS site and am glad that I am not alone in thinking this was a scam. I have been unemployed for about 6 months now, so as you can imagine, a person can become quite taken in by these types of scams. I was almost one of them. They even called me several times and said that I could get a loan from one of the companies they recommended. The APR on these so-called loans was like 219%. OMG!! I am really ashamed of scammers like this who prey on people that would give their last money in the bank to have a job. I was almost a victim of this scammers. I feel embarrassed that I almost fell for it.

Complete Scam!!

I knew it was a scam the minute they asked to pay to reserve a spot! Legit company's will not ask you to pay a fee to hold your position. I can't believe these people have scammed so many already... I'm sure they have.

So for all of you out there, here is their official website. You will find some very familiar names including Stephen Munson and David Peters which is who sent me an email. So you may see for yourself. They do list a fee under FAQs ( yup this is a scam, just look at the smile on the guy on the website: http://www.hunterdavid.com/index.php?option=com_co

I received a similar email, was suspicious about it as the letter format seemeed so unprofessional and there were no details of the company website either.

At first I thought I will check it out as it was an online conference, but then I just thought I'd better google it. Thanks to this source of information, now I can use the time for something more meaningful than to waste my time at the 1pm interview.

I hold one very firm belief. One should never have to pay to get a job, and that includes working through a temp service—when you work through a temp service you are technically paying to get a job. You work. You receive pay less than the other employees get. You share your pay with the staffing service. I always hold that if you are not willing to take the time to seek out and hire good employees, you will not take the time to retain me, and because you've really not put anything into hiring me, it would take nothing for you to replace me.

Sickofscammers 2 years ago

I went through the interview and immediately noticed something was fishy when they wouldnt answer people who were asking "why the $297 upfront fee"? I then researched very thoroughly online and found only one story of a guy in the past who was arrested and charged for this exact same upfront fee scam. It was extremely similar and he also charged $297. What also tipped me off was they claimed you could find there great history on google and I found nothing at all. No business license, no registerd company or corporation, and they also changed company names in several follow up emails. I tracked down the office in FL. and it is not registered to the company or any of its alias'. To many warning signs on this one! If your looking for a legit online opportunity email me with "Opportunity web capture pages" in the subject line at goodemailme@aol.com

I have researched this for over a year and have never found one shred of evidence of a scam. I watched this grow from a home office into a full customer service center, sales center, and marketing company online

CuriousLady 2 years ago

Is there anyone here who was done with the interview and already earned money from this company?

Penny 2 years ago

This scam is on Milwaukee's craiglist too. I answered the ad but didn't go through with the interview. I have received more than 25 e-mails from them in a week asking me to interview at a specific time. It's to the point of becoming harrassing. Don't they realize they look like idiots when they send 25 e-mails begging someone to interview? I have asked them to stop contacting me. What scam artisits. Who can I complain to?

You can report to

You can also report the company to craigslist though i am sure that they've recieved many already.

Also try reporting to internet security, respond to the email the company keeps sending letting them know that if they dont stop spamming you that you will report them and file a complaint both locally and online.

I was also invited to attend the interview conference a couple of weeks ago. I had my misgivings about them so I started doing an intensive research on them. There were 201 participants at the beginning of the conference and sharply dropped to 139 10 seconds after they asked us to pay $297. So when it was time for questions, I asked them about their Office Address and the moderator/speaker asked me to find that out on their website. I copied the address from their website and googled it. Lo and behold, a different business came up and I immediately drew their attention. Surprisingly, they didnt let me question go through. I tried so many times but that particular question didnt go through. I tried posting a short line of message and it went through. Then I realized they were not allowing pertinent and mind boggling questions to go through. I went back to ask the question and this time they kicked me out of the room. It smells a lot, very fishy and a lot of people are falling for that scam. How can you ask someone to pay money for money. I even asked them why they wouldnt wait till one earns his or her first pay check and deduct that amount or even double from it.

What is funnier? After I got kicked out from the conference, I signed up for another one the next day to see if the same thing would happen. That con artist went about saying the same stuff that they have been in existence since 2003 and later he said they have about 200 registered associates. If you are wise enough and can do simple calculations, and judging from the number of people who get scammed daily, they should have about 100,000 or more members, but he said they have 200 registered members. Believe me, they get more than 200 people every day to scam. People are desperate for jobs and alwways very vulnerable and so easy to sell anything to, just to get a job. PLEASE BEWARE OF SUCH SCAMS!!!!!!!!

MeganD 2 years ago

thank you for posting this. I just saw it on Craigslist in Seattle and it looked a little suspicious to me to I gooled it and you came up. Thanks for saving me the time of figuring out whether they were a scam or not!

Thanks guys, I got it today and immediately was suspicious. Oklahoma City by the way, and it was on one of the job websites.

Debs 2 years ago

I answered their craiglist ad but didn't follow through on the "interview". They have been sending me multiple e-mails a day for two month now! It's almost to the point of harrassment. I have requested to stop receiving e-mails from them but it doesn't stop. AVOID these scammers.

Laq 2 years ago

I just left a conference and was willing and ready to pay but me and my wife began thinking every business that is receiving money like this should have a website to find more information at. I went to www.homebased staffingpro.com and the information was a little different. During the webinar the ad says that there is a 180 guaranteed refundable period. On the website it is only 90 DAYS!!! That is a BIG stop sign! The info should always be the same. I am so glad so many have posted this information. Thank you all for not being selfish and allowing others to fall into this trap!!! This really angers me because people work hard for money and to see this going on-does anyone know what we can do to stop this???

Rebecca 2 years ago

This is the worse scam around. If you respond to their job posting on craigslist, you will never get rid of these losers. They have literally sent me hundreds of e-mails from different domains over the past month. Some of the e-mails are from David Peters, others are from Lilly Adams. Avoid these losers.

emily says 2 years ago

I literally just googled this cuz i had about 10 emails from a Mr. Paul Randall, i got this in Memphis Tenessee. I haven't set up and interview, and i was already weary about the effing web broadcast. I have gotten several scams from "receptionist postition" where they ask me to do a credit check. Don't do that! I really hope nobody fell for this... this makes me wanna cry

Lucas 2 years ago

Thanks to all for the comments...so true. I've received the same emails and this clears it up. How pathetic and shameful to take advantage of people in this economy!!! Just a heads up to anyone who reads, anything sounding remotely close to this, I would urge you to stay away from. I wrote my thesis paper on these types of scams. Many scammers will merely change how they phrase their ads slightly to keep their scam alive and you can expect a different name (i.e. Paul Randall, Paul Munson, Tiffany Belmonte, etc...). They use these different signature lines to track their results in different regions and their responses from ads with different verbiage so that they know which areas and which ads are most productive for their scam.

I just received my email from the scammer above, Paul Randal, this scam is everywhere. I am in the Orlando Florida area, and just look at the email address, it is a Gmail account. this so called professional company does not have their own email servers? They have to rely on Gmail?

It is an obvious scam, and people like "Paul Randal" - I doubt its even a real name, should be doing time behind bars.

CC 2 years ago

Yeah just did the "interview" about an hour ago and it all sounded alright, that is until they asked for the $297. Of course I did not pay and the people in the chat that did say they pay makes me think they were just people with the scam. One they said the fee and tried to assure us that it was standard practice, half of the people in the chatroom logged off. As did I. So sick of these stupid scams when so many people are trying to find a job.

I was immediatly suspicious, especially because when I recieve legit emails from companies I've applied to, they always reference the position I applied for in the response. This email gives no information on who they are & the position applied for isn't mentioned anywhere. I googled "Recruiting Experts" & HubPages link to this site was at the top of the results page! There is one legit business with that domain name but it is a resume writing service, which obviously has nothing to do w/ these people. I couldn't find out anything about this company. I can't believe people are actually falling for this & giving these people their credit card information to pay the $300! That's insane! Does anyone know what reason they give when they request the $300? Or do they even give one?

I'm doing the interview just to tell everyone in the group to no go for the scam.

lee 2 years ago

yup I too was offered an interview, but then found out about the $300. fee, and looked around and found all of your comments. Thanks for posting comments on the scam guys. Funny thing is the website lists no fortune 1000 companies, and they also don't have a place for clients to contact them about their services. --- So they don't appear to HAVE any way for clients to contact them and be represented by a recruiter... That seems odd eh?

James Moore  2 years ago

Please some one any one tell me how its a scam everyone keeps saying it but there are no facts , anyone can say anything but i am here for facts. If anyone has some facts like i signed up and they disappeared after the next day or if someone can tell me they never paid back the 297 upon your first placement i would like to hear for you .If they have been in Business since 2003 and are still in business please tell me how its a scam , some one would have shut them down if they where a scam by now don't you think. FACTS please i signed up for a interview i will give it a shot i will Keep you posted WITH FACTS not he say she say BS

Livia 2 years ago

it's a totally scam. I do the interview, as the first person said, they talked about their company and their benefit, and then they want to gather money, 297$. However, the very funny thing is that, at that time, on the left of the window it shows that any people in the room can express their opinions. Therefore, as many people said here before, so many people ask about how to pay for their money. However, actually, all people who asked about the payroll, the credit card, or something ease are NOT real person. If you don't believe it, you can type: This is a scam, everybody! Then you will see you cannot sent your message to the window, where people ask about how to pay their money.

A. Cuevas 2 years ago

I am confident this is a scam. I repeadetly asked them for customer testimonials, why the fee was required if it was guaranteed to be reimbursed, and if they had any reply to these scam accusations. They blocked my chat and dodged my questions privately, I was eventually kicked from the chat room. They even went so far as to include fake testimonials from other employees in the chat room. This company has been working under various names such as Recruiting Business, LLC, and Recruting Experts.

Jon 2 years ago

Can someone who's went through the process verify that it is a scam, please? These "horror" stories aren't saying anything. I would like to hear what exactly happened to someone who DID join. Thanks!

Christy 2 years ago

I had the "interview" askedmy questions and signed up. I read information in their back office and looked at all the job postings they were recruiting for; mainly management and medical. Then something went wrong with them being able to send out my handbook. After lots of emailing and scaning copies of credit card w/number blacked out and DL with number blacked out for verification, I finally just asked to be reimburst til everything was situated. I was reimburst proptly with my credit going through the following month. I believe I will re join once again. If you are leary/skeptical thinking they will charge you more than for the training then use a prepaid card. You do have the option of paying in payments if you cant pay the whole $300.

I do agree that there are lots of scams out there and I have fallen for my share of them however none of those scams have ever reimburst me like this one.

Reshanda 2 years ago

I just received this except now it is on career builder, jobs wire etc. It also seemed suspect to me so I searched for reviews and found this. Thanks by the way! They have changed the name to Amanda Williams. Red flags went up for me because they said you don't need to have a webcam or microphone...now how are you suppose to have a "live" interview with no webcam?

Ron 2 years ago

My cousin got the same e-mail. When she asked me my opinion, I told her it didn't sound right...especially after she said there was a fee. I told her you shouldn't have to pay for legitimate work. These folks are preying on people who are out there in search of jobs and it's a shame that we have to go through that.

TMoney 2 years ago

Every Tuesday and Thursday, I go on to the website that they are advertising, I mute the screen and play a game for 30 minutes. As soon as they start asking for money, they request that people type their number in case of problems. I immediately call the users and warn them that this is scam. I am trying to save people some money. If you are reading this, do not pay for this service, it is a scam rip off...

Go here to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It shows on there that no one has complained about the company. I didn't fall for the scam, but I want to make sure that those responsible for it get punished.

I have been receiving this e-mail with different Recruiting names. It is not this people fault to pay us disparate to get a job to meet our obligations. Her is the e-mail sent to me and I did not respond to it. I have been long time using the net and I can spot the scam right away. The problem is that I involve the FBI but they are not doing any things. Be careful because as I have PHD in law and been certified paralegal in USA, I like to say that you will be responsible if you have been cut not the scammers.

First thing that happened was I receive an email about a job that I applied for. It stated that the company received my resume for a job I applied for with their company. I never did apply with their company. But I was interested because I have experience in the Human Resources area. So I sign up for this webinar. During the webinar It started out ok but then started to feel that this is one of those new ways of getting people to pay for a training program, kinda like on the infomercials that come on Saturday night, get rich in 30 days, money back guarantee. Well not that cheesy but you get the drift. Anyway, after 1 1/2 hours of being filled with promises and dreams we are all (300+) of us are told that only 25 lucky guys will make the cut if they punch in their credit card numbers. Although everything in my being (my heart and soul) felt SCAM I was desperate. I have no money, no job and two boys to feed. So I fell for it.

I recieved the same e-mails and my contact's name was Paul Randall his number is 321-220-4446 and he has a legitimate voice mail. If they were interested in hiring for their company, they wouldn't invite the entire world to interview. I feel bad for those who actually gave money. Never give anyone money unless you do it in person or you know exactly who you're giving money to and you're getting a legal receipt in return.

I too interviewed for an at home Recruiting position. I wanted a job and I thought working at home would be good for me right now, so I bit. I payed $297.00 for the training material. Luckily, I had talked with a friend about being an independent contractor. (They did not give any information about this in the video). She did some research and then informed me it was a SCAM. They use the name of Pro Recruiting Experts in Florida. I called my Visa company. They said to let the company have an opportunity to refund the money. So they called the number of the company. It was already disconnected. Visa gave me a refund. Lesson learned!

The same ad appeared last week, using a different company name located in Los Angeles.

Sherri 23 months ago

You never, ever should have to pay an "employer" whether you are considered an employee or independent contractor. I, like some of the other posters, received an email and logged into the web conference a couple of weeks ago. It sounded okay at first, but the minute they asked for money I was not interested. I sat and watched how people were jumping off the conference. Some seemed to be going for it, but that too could have been a scam to make the others feel better. I keep getting emails and I think it's time I report them to the U.S. Attorney General.

Leslie 23 months ago

Thank you Brandon for posting this article. I was very leary of this company, too and I am grateful to read everyone's comments. Is Craiglist aware of this scam? I wonder if there's a way to remove them from their site so other people are not tricked into losing money. I wrote back the scam, asked that they remove me from their email list. Shame on them. They are the lowest of the low.

Maria 22 months ago

I got this interview request via email today from a job I applied to on Craigs list Human Resources section in Orange County (a little south of Los Angeles). They made it sound like I'd be an employee of their real estate company. I'd glad I read this, they are sick people who are taking advantage of individuals who are looking for employment. Very sick people!!!

Maria.

kateryan 22 months ago

I'm in Boston and I got an email from this company too about taking part in their ''web interview''. While I did think there was something fishy about the email I figured I'd take a look and I arranged an interview. Now I know I won't be taking part in this farce! Definetly a scam. And since I arranged an interview I've already gotten emails from ''Lisa Andrews'' and ''Stacey Adams'' asking me to take part in the interview again.... Like hello I just registered to do an interview and yet now other members of your ''company'' are emailing me asking me to interview this week?? That's not how a company works. Disgraceful!!

LO 22 months ago

Thank u to everyone on this board. I just knew this was too fuckin good to be true. I recieved the email today, but didnt set anything up, because when u click on the link to setup the interview, why would they ask for my email and all information again? It just seemed weird to me. Anyway, Im so happy I came across this site to see the truth. They wouldnt had gotten any money from me anyway.Hell I'm unemployed, what I look like paying somebody to hire me.. Yea RIGHT.....

Sunshine77 22 months ago

Sunshine77

Yep, the suckers got to us here in Orange County CA. I had the sense to call the "business" tele. # and spoke to this jerk who sounded weird. I hung up and found this website. Thanks for the 411!!!!!

Amber  22 months ago

Yep, they got us here in Phoenix. AZ. I am so frustrated. I am unemployed and have been for quite some time. It is unfair for these people to do this to people who are so innocent and desperate. Taking advantage of the system and making it worse for those of us who are unemployed trying to make an honest living. UGHHHHH if it sounds too good to be true… It probably is. You should never have to pay to be employed. That is crazy, and sad that people fall for theses scams. I will be reporting them. I am suppose to go to this seminar this evening, and I think I will go so I can give this website to others in hopes they will stop before they get scammed. I will Warn them, and report this to every place I can.

oivaf1 22 months ago

I just attended the interview and was convinced up until they asked for money up front. If you have to pay upfront that is a clear signal. I have worked a couple of jobs that required training and tools but these were deducted from my first few paychecks. When it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Please stay away from this one.

jessie 22 months ago

I found this under NYC HR job posting too

Dave 22 months ago

just about fell for this scam today, until i found this info...thanks everyone...someone on the webinar did ask why the $300 upfront, and the scammer said that 99% of people who pay upfront show they are committed to it...if you start for free, you won't be committed to it, thus they give you their tools/info but they won't make money...simply means there is no "free lunch"...that does make sense...what DOESN'T make sense is saying you only have 40 positions available, and you're counting them down (as suckers are paying and we are googling your company), putting pressure on people to act quickly with their credit card to reserve a spot...if you only need 40 people, why is there another webinar at 7pm tonight and 2 more on thursday...sorry, that don't fly! SCAM!!!!

THANK YOU for this post, Brandon!

Twice I've received this same e-mail, prompted by a Craigs List response in Los Angeles.

YES-- bottom line is to never pay to be employed! It's not EVEN any kind of investment or real product purchase.

I'm SO GLAD many of you here got your hard-earned $$ back from these scoundrels!

Maybe we can all take a moment to post about the on scam sites and help others avoid this pitfall!

Thanks again!

My brother is a U.S. (federal) attorney general. He said most of these scams all lead back to Nigeria.

S Brown 21 months ago

This is very good. always research companies before falling for their trick. I just finished one of their so called interviews and all that is written here is right on the money. I kept asking questions like what was their official company name and where can I find out more about them and they completely ignored what I asked. Several other people were asking questions too and they just ignored us. I stayed in the "interview" for the entire time because I was really curious as to how it all would play out. It was a joke. they made it VERY clear they only wanted to talk to people who where interested in paying them money. My advise to everyone it to stay away from them. They definately don't seem to be legit.

hollly 21 months ago

almost just fell for the same thing! Thank you so much for helping us out!

Ronnie thorpe 21 months ago

Hi everyone,

I was just reading all the rip off reports on this 'recruiting Experts' scam. i was also invited to the online interview, i never knew that the positions will involve money until he said there were 25 positions to fill with a one time payment of 297 dollars. i actually asked him why we should pay upfront to lock in a spot. suprisingly, he didn't ignore me,he said 'believe you me, it's the only way to weed out the serious ones from the curious ones, otherwise we will be really lucky if one person showed up at all to do the work'. i believed it was a real job offer but i didn't have the money to pay right away so all the position were filled. So now i keep getting emails for opprtunities and open positions saying that they need more people because 'things didn't actally work out the way we planned'.

I just thank God i didn't make that payment. i would have been screwed. All the money on my credit card would have been wiped out just like magic. Thanks all for the warning.

I've been looking and applying for job openings for months. I saw this ad on Craigslist in Portland Oregon for 14HR Coordinator positions $49K+ F/T - P/T Avail (Portland). No experience necessary - all training provided. I thought this was a real opportunity and I do have HR experience so I applied and received the same response others have mentioned. I have an interview set up tomorrow, I've never had an on-line interview so I did a little research so I would know what to expect. I've been trying to prepare for the interview because I know how hard it is to get an interview and didn't want to blow it. It was in this process that I tried to figure out who this company is and became suspicious. That's when I ran across this scam warning. Now I will not waste another minute on this fake company! Thank you for sharing your experiences. These people should be reported to the State Attorney General where they are posting these ads.

Alma 21 months ago

I just got this email this morning and I live in Los Angeles CA. It sucks! I was so excited. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences.

Vanessa 21 months ago

I also saw this in craigslist...and was excited to find a HR position that paid so well...but as soon as I saw that the interview would be online, I knew it was a SCAM! ugh, now I keep receiving their emails over and over. My recruiter's name is Stephanie Landis, from Florida. lol, stupid people!!!!!!!

Tee Matthews 21 months ago

The above chat looks exactly like the interview I just attended. ALMOST WORD FOR WORD! Same questions! One lady asked if the almost $300 sign up fee is refundable with your first paycheck why do you have to pay it? She was never answered. Total scam! Please beware.

Mesha Douglas 21 months ago

I just finished the interveiw I must say I was almost going for the scam but being that I have been scammed before I was very unwilling to just go through with it but I need a job so I listened being that I am a single mom I feel that I should be careful with the little money I do have as I looked on this page they were saying the same thing today down to the can my husband work crap too this is a sure fire scam please people be ware of this!!!!

Richter 21 months ago

After receiving emails from these clowns for nearly two months, I decided out of the blue to reply with a scathing request to have my email removed from their mailing list. In the email I flat-out told them if I received any correspondence from them in the future I would report them to the FTC. A few hours later, I received a demeaning reply from one of these so-called professionals.

The gloves are now off. I've filed a report with the FTC, and I would encourage everyone receiving these emails to do the same.

Recruiting Professionals is owned by Joshua Yafa... He is a con-artist and so is his wife Vanessa Pena Yafa. They go by several aliases. Joshua was indicted for SEC fraud in 2005...google his name. He must be reported to the feds immediately! He has stolen millions from people and is the biggest liar. He has a big following the works for him but once he stops paying his employees they all quit and realize the truth about him. If you have been burned by Recruiting Professionals please contact your local police white collar crime unit. There is already an investigation going on!!!!!!!

SoFlo 21 months ago

Yup got it here in Coral Springs, FL. I knew something was fishy when they said I was scheduled for an interview last week that I never signed up for. Also I just now received another email stating they received my resume which I never sent by the way. I only sent a request to find out if the position had already been filled. If this was a real company I would have received a real answer! Yes the Executive Assistant in my email is named Stephanie Landis. I'm so glad I didn't waste my time.

Has anyoneever actually worked for this company and did they make any money

BEWARE DANGER THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN.

S. Smith 20 months ago

I just went through this interview today. At first I thought wow what a great work at home opportunity and then they stated there was a fee. At that point I knew it was a scam but I still wanted to try it out because it just seemed to good but after reading all these posts and the ones on rip off report I am thankful I didn't fall for this but other people did. Never pay to work.

G.M 20 months ago

I live in Canada and got the same email as everyone else! thank god for doing some research!!

CLA 20 months ago

Thank you for posting this info. I had an interview with 'Recruiting Experts', Googled them, and found this site. I emailed back to the company and asked if others would be in on the interview and if we would be asked to pay a $300 fee. No one responded, so I decided not to attend. Probably the next thing this 'company' will do is change their name.

Steve R 20 months ago

I live in Austin, Texas and I just received this email from a so called "Recruiting Experts" and they asked if I can do an interview the next day. What a joke! This is such a scam and I am sad to see that people might fall for it. I might have been a victim had I not found this page.

Liz 20 months ago

Thank you for posting this, I cam across it in Phoenix. I thought it was suspicious and found this site trying to figure out more about the company.

Ashley 20 months ago

Thank you so much for this information. I scheduled an interview for tomorrow but something told me to google the company. You guys are a life saver.

Meghan 20 months ago

This AD found me in Baltimore, MD. I just went through the the online "interview" and thought it was really neat at first. Then After see there were 300+ people in the interview and that they wanted $$$ i decided to do the smart thing and follow-up on this company. I was scammed back 4 years ago in college my a marketing agency called SEAM Marketing. It makes me so disgusted that this people take advantage of so many trusting and struggling people.

As an aside, the email sent out matched the ones posted and that sample interview provided matched mine almost exactly. Every time i tried to type into their chat function nothing popped-up in the chat window. Oh, well.

PLEASE realize this is a SCAM and that your money is being stolen and put to deceitful uses.

nobody's victim 20 months ago

I got this email from craigslist- los angeles (san fernando valley). My first red flag was that there was no company name in the email that was sent to me and the second was the online interview with no webcam or mic needed. I do want to say my email differs slightly from the one everyone else is posting (I guess the scam cannot always be the same): they did not post anything about possible salaries and the name of the "rep" contacting me is LAURA JONES. Heed the warning people!

Renee 20 months ago

Wow...All of you were extremely helpful. I get these emails a couple times a week from a Stephanie Landis. I have been getting the same email for over a year. Now I Just got two today. Now I know to send to spam. Craigslist is full of scammers & careerbuilder is unfortunately becoming toxic. I live in FL & work from home for the AMVETS based out of Orlando. I don't make much but at least I know it's legit because I go there every Friday for more call sheets. I hope everyone has luck with the job search & beware.

Rya 20 months ago

His name is now "Paul Randall" in Houston and not "Paul Munson" anymore. ALSO, they are currently pulling information from careerbuilder as well, besides craigslist. Here's the copy of my e-mail which they keep sending me 4 times a day. Thank you all for getting this information out.

I sent my resume and got an email back. I went to the online interview and was surprised that there were almost 80 other people on there for the interview. The job sounded too good to be true...what company will pay a recruiting firm $8000 to hire someone when they can hire them for free? He said you would start the next day....which meant there was no weeding out process and they would hire anybody. He put the fee slide up and told us to go to the website. That's when I started really questioning it. WHo asks for a fee to hire someone? I wasn't about to give him money or give im my information so he could steal money from me. He counted down from 10 how many spots were left and announced new "employees" when they took one of the spots...but my guess is A LOT of people went on there and paid the fee without even thinking and he got A LOT of money outof it. Seems like a MAJOR SCAM to me.

I suspected something was up the second I read that I wouldn't need a webcam or mic. And now that I've read all of these comments, I'm certain that these are scammers. I'm disappointed that it's not a real opportunity, but thank you all for saving me a huge a headache and waste of time and money.

Yea. this is in the Washington State Craigslist as well. They actually contacted me. I didnt contact them. I knew something was up. These guys should be reported to the govt. They could probably track them down and prosecute them for fraud and theft.

I just got one today from recStaff in Georgia. Word for word, from Pauline ...Darnnit. Thought I had an interview...My account is not on Craigslist. I have an account on careerbuilder.com.

PP looking for work 15 months ago

WOW! I am on this "interview" right now. I either found the listing on Craigslist or Indeed.com. When I initially received the email to schedule my "interview", I thought it was a scam. But after 4 emails, I thought why not? It can at least prep me for a real interview the next day.

I had tried to find information based on the little I got from the emails. Not much. So once I got into the chat, I googled Stephen Munson's name. I am so tempted to try to post this link when they open up the chat feature to ask questions.

I told a few people that I thought this interview would be a scam but why not at least find out for sure. What a waste of my time.

So glad I found this. Not that I would have paid a dime for a job like this anyway.

PP looking for work 15 months ago

Well, I tried. A few times. My question never went onto the question page. But oddly, somehow I lost my connection immediately after. Hmmm....wonder why?

And yes, my email was Pauline Wright too.

Thank you so much for posting this add. I felt a little funny about the company givin they were so vague about the "Position" and I couldn't find anything about them online! Their websites are http://www.RecruitingandStaffingCareers.com

http://www.StartStaffingNow.com

I wasn't convinced they were legit. And even though I attended the so called interview which started out with nearly 600 people I refused to pay nearly $297 to get started. No legit job will ever ask you to pay anything. They said there was a 180 day money back gaurentee but I didn't buy that either. I'm the type of person who googles just aboout everything so I'm glad I decided to jott down his name and thats what brought me to this page. These people are horrible, he actually had 40 people pay that rediculous amount of money. He had one girl, who I'm sure worked for him, type into the chat that she had 2 friends who was working with the company and doing really well. I figured she was lying because like I said I was unable to find anything about this company online.

It seems that people would try to come up with something better than this to scam you out of your hard earned money. Maybe they should just quit scamming and start working.

I have had some experience with scams on craigslist. About a year ago I was looking for a job and every ad I ansewered on craigslist was a scam. Fortunately, I was never scammed becasue I would never, ever pay to work, or give anyone a credit care, checking account number,in fact no information. Once I was asked for a checking account and routing number for deposits. I replied that Iwas not officially hired yet and if I was I would be willing to open a special account for deposits only, no withdrawals except by me in person. They disconnected immediately from the interview. I am glad I am so suspicious.

Scammed?? I just don't know... 13 months ago

I have received hundreds of job openings to work on from this company's website. It doesn't seem like a scam. Though, I have submitted 125 well screened candidates for many of these job openings and I have not made a placement yet. This is unusual but it is not like I don't hear back from them at all. They respond to me - though sometimes I need to send a Review Spreadsheet and then they call me to discuss each submittal. I feel as though they are working as hard as I am. They have great materials and training sessions. They definitely know their industry. They are great interviewers (at least Scott Nazarian & Mike Hackett are). This is 4 months for me. I work sometimes 16 hours a day and I'm hoping for a placement soon...

Stay tuned...I'll definitely let you know.

There is a website called helpmeresolvethis dot com I know the owner - she's a bulldog with connections everywhere.

I actually just attended one of these interviews and, being unemployed, it sounded like a good opportunity.

That feeling stopped when I saw the money involved.. thank you for posting this up and I hope that others see it before they spend.

I saw the ad on Careerbuilder.com, not Craigslist.

Yeah, these scammers are hitting the NYC area now.

Their business is known as RBG Staffing, and I was contacted by Brook Collins, executive assistant to Jonathan Nash.

Though it's still blatantly obvious that it's a scam (for paranoid job hunters like myself), I'm afraid that they are getting trickier and attempting to seem more legitimate to try and fool people who wouldn't be so suspicious. In fact, I read through every single comment of this article (starting at 19 months ago), and I'm sure that whoever's at the top of this scam has scam-minions reading all of these comments as a way to "improve the scam."

For an update:

1. In NYC, it is now RBG Staffing.

2. They no longer use Gmail. The emails are at totalstaffingresource.com.

3. They now include a FULL job description for a specific job in the email. Mine was for a "Staffing Agent." The entry level F/T pay is still at $63,750.

4. You still don't need a microphone or web cam to do a "live" interview, haha.

--------

Yeah, it's typically a bad sign if the con artist spells her own NAME differently throughout the email. Poor little Brook Collins, Brooke Colins, or Brook Colins has been so wrapped up in sending spam emails that she forgot how to spell her name. =P

Also, from reading the comments posted here, notice that the con artists always have very plain, common names. Just a guess--that's probably so that it's more difficult to link it to the scam if you were to google the name.

Please, even those of you who are doubting that this is a scam or saying that no one has any real facts about it being a scam, just take a second to THINK about it. If you were walking down the street and someone with a knife said that they were going to show you something great in a dark alleyway, you wouldn't need to see a dead body to know it's a bad idea. You just know from instinct, and that's all the proof you need. You wouldn't walk down the alley just to "make sure" that you're going to get murdered instead of getting something great. My hunch is that you'd just get the heck out of there. Do the same with this company: don't try it just to make sure, just get out. As everyone else has said: If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

It is tough to find a job right now, but this company will make you worse off than you already were by taking the little money you have left. I hope these con artists get what's coming to them--they've apparently been conning people for at least two years now. Ridiculous.

I do have a pile up of work and a number of unattended chores which you can immediately assist me with. I hope we can meet up with the workload eventually. Permit me to use the coming week to test your efficiency and diligence towards all this, also to work out your time schedule and fit it to mine.

I really need to find the perfect person for this job and i am confident you can take up the challenges. On the long run we should have a relatively sound working relationship between us.I'm online most of the time as I am hard of hearing so I prefer we contact each other through E-mails but if there is need for me to call, I will be glad to do that. I am glad you are willing to work with me and i promise to be a good boss. I am also glad on the commitment in working. I have been checking my files and what i would want you to do for me next week is to run some errands out to some of the orphanage home which I do every month.
